Vouched because it's interesting.

It is easier to not consumer calories than it is to burn them. It really is that simple. Both take willpower though, and that's the hard part (excising and dieting).

Maybe some of the older ones. The problem with TED, is that is mostly the 'E' these days - 'Entertainment'. It has developed into a meme...

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

I highly recommend "Backgammon NJ for Android" by Jimmy Hu - well worth the price. It has the best computer opponent I've seen (one that can usually beat me on the hardest setting, all of the computer opponents on the free backgammon games I tried years ago were a joke).

Coffee Golf is a great time waster

The only person here inciting a flamewar is you. Nice attempt at "concern trolling"

Your trolling in the other comments is the problem that you claim to be against. Everyone else seems to be having a rational discussion without letting their emotions influence their writing except for you.

Be a better person.

Oh please. I stated a position that isn't even controversial, noting that these sorts of discussions are not really what folks tend to want on hackernews. Responses have been from agreement to claims of trolling. Feel free to give more compassion to folks with religious trauma as you join us all in being better folks.

are not really what folks tend to want on hackernews

This is simply not true - the thing that's unwanted is flamewars. The goal (aspirational as it may be) is curious conversation. If you are unable, for whatever reason, to engage in a topic with curiosity, that's totally fine but it's on you not to bring deliberate arson to the conversation other people might have.

None of this invalidates your views or experiences but the notion they give you some sort of righteous justification to poop in the thread is preposterous. You don't even have the excuse of ignorance - you've been here well over a decade.

To quote a recent comment:

> Can you just stop? It's really a much worse thing than whatever your problem with discussion over [a sensitive topic that will certainly bait flamewars] is. There's reams of mod commentary about it. https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&qu...

Since you are wanting to continue conversing meta, feel free, but I'm done. The point has been made and enough folks recognize a toxic topic to HN when they see one (which is why this thread has been flaggedeathed), and I'm happy to leave the dead thread where it stands.

I'm pretty sure that's a violation of the U.S. Can Spam Act, so I always mark emails that do that, as spam (after verifying there is no other unsubscribe link).

I've unsubscribed from them in the past, then 6 months later they start spamming me. I unsubscribe again, then 6 months after that they start spamming me again.

Whomever is doing this at LinkedIn is despicable scum.

The "?trk=" URL tracking element says "Officekey". I wonder if the keycombo works on machines without Office installed.

Yes, it's referring to the key with the Office logo on Microsoft keyboards, which sends the Win + Shift + Ctrl + Alt combination, regardless of whether Office is installed or not.

Yes it does, it worked on my Server 2022 dev box which doesn’t have office

With Monero, the fees get smaller (sub 0.01 USD) the more transactions there are.

Why aren't banks subject to taking the money and running? Banks could handle crypto.

Reversable transactions could probably be programmed in certain conditions.

Banks/laws/policy/etc.

I wouldn't try Bitcoin either. Monero is a lot better, but even then it's just a stepping stone of what could come if enough people cared.
