The lack of command + F frustrates me roughly 15 times a day.

This is super gangster

Surprised no one has mentioned App Engine. Their free tier will take you a long way.

Second that, if i'm not mistaking, there is a guy running his 4000 $ monthly biz running on the free tier... Can't remember which biz or where i saw it though.

It was just API calls if i'm not mistaking and he wrote a post where he slimmed his app so it could fit in the free tier again.

Anyone has an idea?

I think it was this guy. http://blog.initlabs.com/post/16359268329/how-i-reduced-goog... The project he wrote about seems to have changed direction though.

Could be, but then he had to alter his theme, because i don't recognize it.

But then again, the post is from 2 years ago :)

Wait, my back of the envelope says you'll need to pull down around 650mb a second to stream 4K. That's uncompressed, sure, but anything in that power of ten isn't feasible.

Typical compression of 4k video ends up being more than a factor of 10 smaller.

Yikes you're right. Looks like 2 powers of 10.

Can't it be buffered?

I can't wait until code is no longer seen as this mechanical and mysterious thing. Stuff like this will no longer need to be explicitly be "Art with Code", instead it can just be "Art made by describing it"

Has the repo been moved from here? https://github.com/popcorn-team/popcorn-app

The link on the website points to https://github.com/popcorn-org/popcorn-app

Yes I was the previous owner of popcorn-team, but for some reason the other owner kicked everyone before closing the repo and the website. popcorn-org and popcorn-time.tv are the new project I maintain.

It's not really an either/or situation

I'm pretty sure they even take a walk around his factory with him in the movie

That's very naive of you.

Good on them. In reality, however, fuel from the sun is free and we have unlimited land. Getting the cost down and economies of scale are what everyone is really focussed on.

From a policy perspecive, land is probably one of the biggest factors limiting large-scale PV installations in the U.S.

Basically, every square meter of land in the U.S. is already being used for something that people will defend, even if it is sparse desert land. Sparse desert land is a natural ecosystem, and there are many people and nonprofits who work hard to protect natural ecosystems from disruption by man.

We have unlimited land, but I don't think we have unlimited Silicon with which to cover it.

sahara has all the land and all the silicon you may need.

Who has unlimited land?

I'm in Australia. We have unlimited land and enough sun to power the solar system.

You guys might be one of the few countries with effectively unlimited land. But remember the power has to get from where it's generated to where it's needed.

Sprint? Maybe Verizon?
