Who the fuck is up voting articles from 2011? Where is the moderation around here. Make sure the date is in the title.

Because something that people might not know that's from 2011 is less relevant in 2014?

It works in Mavericks too, it's a good article in 2011 and today.

Why don't the powers that be make a new image animated image format that is bandwidth conservative? I don't get why Google/Apple/Microsoft/Adobe haven't jumped on this. Or maybe I do, they don't use animated GIFs. Fuck. If only Reddit/imgur/Internet forums had any lobbying power.

I'm starting to think "Ask PG" are linkbait titles disguised as "Ask HN".

This whole thread is silly.

The "Bro" has nothing to do with brogrammer or that misogynist culture. It's a pun on "man" pages.

And most people in tech who use the term bro are not referring to the brogrammer culture. They're using the bro slang popularized by MMORPGs/MOBAs/4chan/internet memes, since like World of Warcraft 2004.

What's to talk about? 1440p or 1600p monitors have been out for a long while. You can get an amazing QNIX2710LED for just $400 on Amazon.

I will say gaming grade 1440p/1600p monitors still aren't available, or some combination of gaming grade and high color reproduction (IPS). Some people have had luck overclocking Korean monitors to 120Hz. I don't know if we'll ever see a native 120Hz 2560x1440/1600 IPS monitor (w/Nvidia G-SYNC to boot).

If I planned my life around it, I could live without voice and texting, and rely on instant messaging and Email instead, however I must have LTE. I can't rely on WI-FI everywhere. So, I would be paying some cellular service for LTE, and then I might as well get voice/text.

That said, I just noticed T-Mobile $30/month 100 minute voice, and unlimited data (4G up until 5GB) plan. That's pretty amazing and I will probably jump ship from Verizon.

Well, I wouldn't say drinking coffee or tea is a health benefit. Especially coffee.

I'd say it boils down to how often you drink, serving size, and how much sugar.

> Well, I wouldn't say drinking coffee or tea is a health benefit. Especially coffee.

OK. But that doesn't tell me much. :)

I brought this up because it has been conventional wisdom up until recently that you'd do better health-wise without coffee, while recently the topic has seemed to become more nuanced. Wikipedia lists both health risks and health benefits. It's not clear, to me, that it is straightforward to balance all the purported benefits and downsides and land on one or another conclusion.

As for tea, I have never seen that that is something that is unhealthy (assuming no extra ingredients like sugar). Conventional wisdom says that green tea is in fact very healthy. I haven't read much about the effects of black tea.

Personally I drink both coffee and tea without adding anything to them.

How many days a week do you work? How many hours a day?

Depends. Early on i was putting in 50s. During the summer it was closer to 20 ;) now I'm between 30-40. Family time is super important to me so I make sure to be off by 5 (I'll still take calls and address issues at any hour when/if needed)
