The problem with a lot of developers is that they just want to be sit in a corner, and figure stuff out on there own.

When in 3 words you can ask for help from someone who's done it before, and save a lot of time for the company.

There a lot of personality types that just won't ask for help, unless you make it a part of the routine.

Stand ups go bad when employers try to use it to "control" employees(You must be in at this time, put social pressure on you to complete things etc) as opposed to just a casual routine thing.

Tends to be good when implemented by devs themselves, bad when its enforced as strict policy, and business people trying to squeeze the last bit energy from the dev team.
