I don't believe we are made safer by crushing anyone who makes a mistake or has a temporary lapse in judgment. We all make those.

There are better ways to improve safety - we've already come a long way.




Temporary lapses in judgement are fine - what I hate is the attitude of disregard towards safety and law.

Fortunately, it seems that the whole discussion will soon become moot thanks to self-driving cars.
