I use whois privacy on my domain because it is for my personal site and I'd rather random people not getting my home address, especially since sometimes people get angry with me and will try to find data about me.
... and that's fine, because it's a personal site and it's unlikely someone will need to contact you urgently to report a problem. The tradeoffs would be different if you were a company providing a service to a large number of customers.
