Reminds me of the always entertaining blog of Oona Räisänen: http://www.windytan.com/ (she very well might recommend this book somewhere on her site).

It's amazing what one can hear if one spends the effort to truly listen.

An excellent book for anyone interested in anything that has a frequency. The whole field is based on a simple but brilliant idea: using convolution and an impulse response to model anything linear. I encourage you to at least read the first several chapters; it is useful to a lot of different fields.

To anyone who goes for the comments first, like me, the complete book is available online for free.
