This is delightful. We changed the url from http://gizmodo.com/who-painted-this-300-year-old-guidebook-t.... Submitters: please read what you post and, if there's a more original source, post that instead. HN prefers original sources.

Remarkably, the book itself is viewable at http://www.e-corpus.org/notices/102464/gallery/. Since the blog post is necessary to understand what this is, we won't replace the url any further.


It would be great if this could be formalised somehow. Like giving "via" and "source document" footnotes to the story [or perhaps an automated top comment that is visually distinguished as editorial] - if you'd not added this note I'd have missed out as I don't have access to tumblr. But it's more that such metadata gives the reader much more control of how they digest the information.

Gizmodo and Colossal both give "via" info.


I'm so glad they put this guy in charge of the content!
