I thought Fireworks is still in the building? At least before adobe went to the cloud...

From the Adobe site "While we are not planning another full release of Fireworks and will not release any new Fireworks features, we will continue to sell Fireworks CS6 and make it available in the Creative Cloud."

So you can use it, but they won't be developing it further.
