I admit that I like the cachet that goes with the title "Engineer".
I have no interest in worshiping the "real" engineers with their protocols and whatever. An engineer is qualified to build a bridge because they know how to build a bridge. Their professional ethics and protocols are secondary. And we certainly have ethics of our own, even if it isn't codified and we don't wear special rings.
