Drop everything and get this. You need Spin (but probably not any of its sequels).

Can't say I know anything about the other novels, but I'm sure others can chime in.

Was coming in here to post about Spin as well. I don't like most sci-fi anymore because most of the books i seem to come across don't have enough of the science feel (I grew up on stuff like Asimov) so Spin was a breath of fresh air.

At some point I should try the sequels for myself but I've also heard they're... not great. Which makes me sad after how much Spin hit the right buttons for me.

You should look at the Mars trilogy if you enjoy hard ("sciency") scifi. They were written, well, recently compared to Asimov.

Although Spin stand on its own I think the third installment has merits and give it a broader (albeit similar to Baxter's Manifold triptych) ending.

It's almost not necessary to read the second one but it still beats TV.

Boneshaker is a pretty good steampunk romp. I understand the Vorkosigan Saga is a classic, haven't read it yet though.

There are two really good of the Vorkosigans - Vor's Game and Mirror dance. The rest are so so.

Sadly I have most of the books in this bundle - only Boneshaker missing. But i will throw a dollar or two for the idea.

Absolutely. Boneshaker is especially fun if you know the Seattle area at all. Some of the most fun I've had reading in a long time.
