I can understand why that inconsistency is frustrating. Similarly:

    typedObj, err = something.(type)
    typedObj = something.(type)
    obj = someMap[key]
    obj, ok = someMap[key]



It's

    typedObj, ok = something.(type)
just like it is with maps, or any other ", ok" thing.
