you’re understanding is flawed. the us government exists with the sole purpose of safeguarding American interests and liberty. if collecting chinese’ geolocation helped that, i’d be okay with us doing it. of course, china is objectively worse in that we haven’t actually done this to anyone’s knowledge and given that she built her whole economy off lying, cheating, and stealing.
i think you’re mistaking a sentiment of “china is dangerous, her interests specifically contradict ours, and we must permanently cripple her power before she gets worse” for “china is in violation of muh international norm #627!!”
