This is unverified so maybe that should be included here since it's getting upvotes. I'd rather delete it tbh but can't. Or if someone can just flag this post for me, thanks.

The account uses the same handle as his twitter account and was created on Jan 2024. So arguably not someone else riding the popularity wave of the recent developments.

The username on an account can be set or even changed at any time and would not affect the created date.

(And like, he might simply not have had a YouTube account with his username set--so as to effectively prevent someone from doing this today--as there is no reason to have done so unless you really cared about your username.)

That said, he was apparently a bit of a software developer (with an account on GitHub), so maybe he in fact really did set this all up ahead of time? But the profile pic just seems way too ridiculously on the nose, frankly...

Also, if you are going to do this, would you really not have your YouTube account linked from anywhere?! He has an account on all of Twitter, Facebook, GitHub, and even Linktree, and yet no link to this YouTube account.

Didn't know this (not a YT user as such) but I won't delete the comment for thread history sake.

It does appear it may be bogus.

Cheeky. Sounds like he was arrested in a McDonalds, and in his YouTube profile picture he's posed smiling next to a Happy Meal.

what if this is all _still_ part of his plan, and the happy meal is intentional, and he called the police on himself at the mcdonalds?

Unverified, sure, but how do you pre-create that kind of account if you're an unrelated person wanting to surf on that assassin wave?

Plot twist: Luigi Mangione is not the actual killer but carefully crafted evidence pointing to him, after the fact.

In any case, it seems like things are going to get interesting...

Account was created in January, so could be legit?

Seems like the account is already banned

Arguably the police was tipped so not like they found him as a product of their 'smarter' investigation.

> Dude thought he was smarter the cops. It would appear he wasn't smart enough.

He outwitted them for long enough to get his arrangements in order, kill someone else, or himself if he chose to. Given his flippant reluctance to leave the area and stay in PA, it really does seem like he was just waiting to see how long it would take for them to find him.

Is there evidence he is an anti-capitalist? The conjecture right now is that he has some personal vendetta against a specific company.

From the other article linked on the front page:

Police also say he was found with handwritten documents - also described as a "three-page manifesto". The documents showed that he seemed to have "ill will towards corporate America", officials said.

It depends on what bias bubble you exist in. There are people calling him a anti-capitalist left-wing radical but also an Andrew Tate/Peter Thiel booster. Crazy how hard the culture warriors want this so bad to be about them.

He's probably a centrist neo liberal

Is spending money incompatible with being anti-capitalist? How?

Why can't an anti capitalist eat at McDonald's? There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.

I will never understand why in this day and age Italian is the only accent or culture left in the USA that's still ok to make fun of...

Because Rome conquered the western world and never really fell.

Right, down with the Romans, really bad civilization, let's all make fun of them. I am glad they're all dead or turned into stone (I think?), am I right?

Too bad the comment wasn't:

O no, Ludovicus! Captus es! Dixi tibi vestigia tua operire!
