Personally, I don't think it's anything unfixable.
At least slow joins with large rooms got improvements last year or something.
E2EE is nowadays on by default, and I haven't had any decryption issues recently, but E2EE is not mandatory.
Notifications have had some changes too, but I can't comment much on that or your other issues.
