For what little it's worth, Cabaret is one of my favorite musicals whatever the problems with the book that carry through to productions. (The emphasis on the MC role, the often unclear integration of the supporting crew at the boarding house except in a peripheral way that differs by production and in the movie which is more of a Liza Minnelli star vehicle). The current production is quite good even if I probably prefer the Alan Cumming as MC production overall.
