According to my over-50 year old boss in regard to their grown kids, they still do. But it is symmetric nowadays, and has something to do with their faith.

That raises more questions than it answers.

“Thou shall spy on thy family’s whereabouts no fewer than thrice hourly, and thou must use ReligionFamilyTracker™, at $19.99 per week, to do so.”

I won't ever claim that I understand it. As my tiny human says: "That's creeps."

Me and my loved ones all location share, but we are all also well adjusted and capable of minding our own buisness. It does make life easy though when picking someone up from the airport, being worried about someone taking longer than expected to get to your house when a visit is planned (quick check can see theyre moving, or stopped at gas station or something) and can put concerns of an accident to rest. It really does rely on everyone involved being well adjusted though. Final point is, temporarily disabling the sharing is dead simple and no one bats an eye or brings it up if it happens, and happened to notice.

All of that can be quite healthy and I have zero issue with it. The part that threw me off was the family in question doing it for faith reasons. I wonder what that entails and genuinely hope it’s not some kind of megachurch scam imposed by a fraudulent faith-healer.

Is your boss the current Speaker of the House of Representatives who uses such parent-ware on his children's phones and claims that his child does the same so they can monitor each others (avoidance of) porn habits?

No, but I'm sure my boss and Mr. Speaker would get along swimmingly.
