How do you follow news on tech and stay upto date?

What are your go to resources including HN and best ways to stay updated (I am on iOS)

I use NetNewsWire, an RSS reader on iOS and macOS. Ars Technica is the main tech news site I follow in there, but also follow a few dev blogs.

I find if I have too many general purpose tech news sites there is a lot of duplication of big stories, and the volume becomes overwhelming to the point I give up. So I try and keep it simple.

HN fills in some gaps, and I figure if a story is big/important enough, I’ll hear about it eventually.

I couldn't agree more with you. It does indeed get overwhelming. I was following twitter a lot but I eventually get lost in the swarm over there.

Any recommended dev blogs?

I use RSS for as much as possible (it’s how I found this post). On iOS/Mac I use the Reeder 5 app. I’ve tried dozens of RSS apps and found its UX to be the best, by far.

I use RSS for HackerNews[1], Reddit, YouTube, and Substack.

What is your preset for HN feed?

Hacker News

I subscribe to the pragmaticengineer and check HN every now and then

sign up to various newsletters with work email add rss feeds to work outlook (outlook has it built in)

I find that by using work email not personal, more likely to look at it.
