The PCWorld article (source of this submission) also got it wrong in assuming its for regular consumers:

I recently upgraded from Windows 11 to Windows 10 and I love it - it feels more user friendly and customizable!

For instance I can choose not to group my applications in the task bar. There's also no intrusive ads, and I don't need to sign in with a Microsoft account.

So glad to hear Microsoft is dedicated to supporting their leading OS.

This reads like: Yes, there are ads.

And is it true that they scraped the account requirements? I know there are ways around it. But I really want an opinion with a button just as large as the one nudging me to create a cloud account to just use a local account instead.
