4K is nice, but even that it is a bit much at "TV" sizes; I swear the main reason it sells so well is that the line of TVs at Best Buy or Walmart is right next to you, so you're a few inches away from the pixels.



I have a 4k@120 Hz projector and it's downright amazing on my 120" "screen" :)

They're not that expensive, relative to some of the larger TV screens[0]. Plus, when it's off, there's no bulky appliance to navigate around.

Those sizes are where the resolution starts to matter again


I'm a big believer that if the story isn't good enough to "suck you in" then pixels isn't going to help.


Once you go from VHS to DVD, everything else is just gravy (assuming the DVD isn't a very bad VHS rip).

1080p, 4K, and 8K are nice to have but they're not groundbreaking the way VHS to DVD was.
