The alt.space community was - and is - talking about possibilities in this area for decades. Since Apollo, and especially since shuttles shown their problems, commercial space appeared and overall possibilities of launching an experimental project with a dedicated team outside of governments became reachable, there's a lot of published materials and discussions of what and how could be done in space. It's a pleasure to see enough concentrated efforts in the form of a company to pursue the possibilities. It's a little disappointing not to see more of this.
