Try the Caprover on digital ocean to try things out.

What is great about this is that nginx proxing and other bits are already working together to give a working system. The port mapping, the domain/subdomain managing, https with certificate, etc. Application are installed in one click and are configured mostly with env vars.
Then dig into it with docker or install one ubuntu system and install stuff and see how to configure, etc.
