A once productive contributor to this website, now I see all their comments disappear within minutes. This is not the only account, just the latest of a seemingly growing demographic here. Is there some way to better address the elephant in the room? Yes, this is a throwaway.
Comments don't disappear. Even those flagged, blocked or [dead] can be seen when you enable 'showdead=yes' in your profile. This user (stdclass) hasn't commented in the last 13 months.
That's the other odd part. The comment was on https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39430095 , it was of course another political comment on a non-poltical post, so it got flagged or disappeared as usual. How does that happen?
I've seen users who delete their own comment when they see it got flagged. Moderators don't delete comments, not even obvious spam, test comments, insults. You'd need to email the moderators (link in the footer) to do more research.
No, it's on https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34555042 And it was flagged dead, which means other users clicked the flag button. If the whole account were dead, it would just say "[dead]" and not "[flagged][dead]".
