I also think there are still plenty of companies, large ones, with important services and data, that just don't operate in a way that allows the data center teams to do this either. I have some experience with both health insurance and life insurance companies for example where "this critical thing #8 that we would go out of business without" stillnloves solely on "this server right here". In university settings you have systems that are owned by a wide array of teams. These organizations aren't ready or even looking to implement a platform model where the underlying hardware can be generic.
