The human condition is to constantly fight the unpredictable nature of the universe. Too hard to accept that we can die at any moment (at the end of this week, this day, this sentence even), and so we attempt to create order in the universe by assigning meaning to things which are inherently random, like the number and shape of holes in cheese.
