Except that a dynamically updating copyright year without any work having been done may not be legally valid, ie there was no copyrightable step taken... (IANAL)


And in the United States, copyright notices are not even necessary; you own the copyright to your work whether or not there is a notice.


Generally the Berne Convention makes that so in most of the world, not just the US.

Isn’t an older copyright date preferable? Could do <start-year>-<current-year>.
