I think we just assume software is secure until it isn't. Maybe it's time for a new SMTP client/server, I will be on the lookout.

I also think that we were bitten by maxima: Be gentle what you receive and strict what you send. I actually myself liked it, but now I think its not a good idea after all. Internet is hostile environment these days, its better to be strict and not trust anything coming from outside.
