The new seal is also pretty cool. The objections, however, are not:

> Denise Mazone, who was appointed to the commission by the Council on Minnesotans of African Heritage, said she didn’t see the state’s African American community reflected in any of the final flag designs

> The year 1858, for example, is the year Minnesota was admitted to the United States and was included in the original version of the final seal design.

> A similar debate played out when the commission discussed the inclusion of the state motto, “l’etoile du nord,” which is French for “star of the north.” The commission considered translating the motto to Dakota, but ultimately decided to remove the motto from the state seal over concerns that it would violate the commission’s mandate to represent a “one Minnesota” and not single out particular communities.

Everybody wants their piece on the new flag/seal, thank god they didn't give in to the design-by-commitee temptation of just adding everything in.

My preference is between F29 and F1953 (from the 6 finalists); shame F29 got eliminated. Finalists are visible here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Minnesota#2023_redesig.... I'll never understand how stuff like 1435 got into the final 6.

F29 is great. It does appear a bit like a logo, but I think that's fine. The Colorado Flag has this quality too but it definitely helped boost the state's tourism identity over the years.

these concerns are valid. Awesome job graphic design team!
