In this context, God is probably too charged, I think that Demiurge [1] is better:

"...an artisan-like figure responsible for fashioning and maintaining the physical universe"

Slightly off topic question, but does anyone know if there is any school of thought that holds both sides as being necessary? It seems the traditional Christians hold the physical Yahweh god as being the "true" god whereas the gnostics take the ideal non-material god as being the "true" god, but is there some school of thought that deems both necessary for existence in a co-dependent style relationship?
