The article seems lacking, and doesn't give much background on how we got to where the title came from. A shame, really. Im sure there're better articles out there
This headline is sufficiently absurd that I would not have believed this would be a thing ten years ago.
That said, this is a perfect opportunity to talk about the ethics of training manipulative AI models to extract money from desperate, lonely customers... Err, I mean offering AI girlfriend services.
true. i guess its similar to comparing skin mags from the 60's-90's, to the engagement algorithms and UI designs used by pr0n sites after 2020.
theres going to be a "survival of the fittest" shift - folks that are able to avoid these new-age adult relations exploitation practices will have a higher chance of reproducing.
It's certainly a big step up from the dystopia we're living in now.
You don't actually think those radicalized GamerGate/MAGA incels should inflict themselves on real live women do you??! Gross.
Obviously you don't have "showdead: yes" or you'd know how common and pathetic they were. They even openly admit in public that they'd land in jail if they had to deal with real women. It's cheap simple practical effective rape prevention.

>Like "real" girlfriends are not manipulative and do not extract money. AI chatbots are way cheaper and will not land you in a jail. Also far less toxic and without mental health issues!
Preventing them from reproducing by giving them AI girlfriends is significantly more humane and less homicidal than Trump's wildly successful policy of killing them off them by convincing them to inject bleach, stick ultraviolet flashlights up their ass, eat horse dewormer pills, attend superspreading rallies, and not get vaccinated, wear masks, or self isolate. He killed off a hell of a lot more of his followers than he built miles of wall.
Pro-Trump counties continue to suffer far higher COVID death tolls:
I assumed that the headline was an example of nonsense text generated by ChatGPT (to what end?) - turns out that would have been better than the truth.
What I was imagining didn't make any sense, but I'm still rather disappointed that this isn't a story about an AI girlfriend showing up at the precinct to bail the CEO out.
This is why I self host my girlfriend, instead of subscribing in a GaaS model. If you can't touch the server rack and feel the heat, all you're doing is talking to somebody else's AI girlfriend.
