Wait, they're adding image attestation in software to existing models?




Everyone wishes there could be new photography or videography features and Sony could with effort to reengineer some of these processing pipelines to do more (ex: Focus Breathing). but adding some workflow capabilities is off the main & intensive path of the device & easier to tack on.


Funnily enough I can imagine this awful DRM being one of the few things that would help us avoid deepfakes and similar in the future.


It's not DRM, it's optional provenance metadata.

So, think of it as cryptographically signing the image rather than encrypting the image.
