Atul Gawande, such a great writer. Another favorite of mine that would be of interest to many here: Why Doctors Hate Their Computers https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/11/12/why-doctors-ha... The big takeaway for me, which the article doesn't get to until near the end, is that close collaborations between technologists and the experts they're building systems for--the core of Participatory Design--can be VERY fruitful.



I recommended the Why Doctors Hate Their Computers to my GP doc. The next time I saw her and asked her about it, she was PISSED. She said she spends about as much time working on EMR info as she does seeing patients, and it really irritated her to know how many docs just don't pay any attention to what's in the EMR.

She's a great doc.
