For the personal newsletters that involve traveling, what I do is journal every day while I am in the destination country, and then when I'm at home, begin writing. Each travel post takes about 40 hours of writing, editing, and picture selection.
For the travel posts, I try not to rehash a history of a place (you probably could watch a youtube video or read a book for better perspective), but instead try to find something hopefully new and insightful to reveal
