The first time I saw Interstellar, I fell in love with the design and personalities of the machines CASE and TARS. I rewatched it recently and got wondering how hard would it be to actually build them?
I know that when the movie was released in 2014 they seemed quite far fetched, at least on the intelligence side, but with the extreme advances in quasi-intelligent language models like GPT-4, it seems like it may not be that far out.
I’m not as familiar with current robotics however, so does anybody have thoughts or ideas about how difficult a fully integrated AI robotics system like TARS would be?
