Sorry to say this, but that's a pretty shallow view of Germany - "Beer, Bakeries, and Gardens", as the article tells us. The author walked the Ruhr valley (e.g. Dortmund, Duisburg) so they had a chance to see areas rife with social problems, Nazis, and non-functioning German infrastructure... it's definitely not as rosy here as the author describes it.


He walked that and didn't notice, perhaps?

That's kind of been my experience as a foreigner here in Germany. The severe problems aren't really all that severe.

Here are some things the article has to say about infrastructure: There's plentiful good food everywhere, inexpensive and freshly made. There are no food deserts. The public transport is good. The trams run, the bus stops don't reek of piss, the lamps work and when something new is built it's not like La Sombrita. Did I miss anything?
