it didn't fail, people just found something more shiny.
what scared me off usenet was the reality that very very illegal porn was flooding into otherwise normal groups. the relentless onslaught of spammers & scammers was never ending. kill files were handy but eventually became unwieldy.
it wasn't a client issue.. I was using what I considered to be the best Usenet client ever, Unison by Panic. I still use nntp via aioe.org to this day.
