Especially not the Jargon File. It largely comes from a particular period of time at MIT and Stanford, which is interesting in a historical sense but nobody should try and "become a hacker" by reading the Jargon File. Also it's had all sorts of injections and alterations by self-appointed Jargon File steward Eric Raymond, who should be ignored completely.

I only wish I could have told my 16-year-old self this.

Change that to "how to live", and it is still true. :)
