This nicely touches on the variants of rules. I liked the distinction of the thin rule, which can be reasonably adapted and a thick one with caveats where the thin one has failed to curb cheaters.


To quote from the article: “Behind every thin rule is a thick rule, cleaning up after it.”


The thick/thin rule distinction makes a lot of sense. The statement "Saints have bigger fish to fry" is a neat thin rule.
