I don't love the aggressive curly braces. Does anyone else? I feel like the whole typeface here is consistently bland, and then there's the angry curly braces that pop out of nowhere.

A bit to zigzaggy maybe, but now parens / brackets / braces can't be mistaken for one another.

"Bland" is actually good; when reading source code, you should be able to pay no attention to the font, and concentrate on the text.

I like how quotes, asterisk, circumflex, etc are large and legible.

I love bland. I agree that they should be very clear and legible, but I think they should to match the rest of the typeface.

The parentheses are a bit intense as well IMO, though I appreciate the distinctness of vertical characters (ilI|1!)

You guys don’t find the ampersand a little too wibbly wobbly and neurotic?

It’s a bit unusual, but I wouldn’t say either “wibbly wobbly” or “neurotic”. On first impression, I like it: it’s clear and distinct while managing to be light and open without having a light stroke.

It can't be mistaken for 8 though.

Few can.

I didn't see that until you mentioned it. The curly braces distracted me.

That’s a deliberate choice and I suspect that it was driven by their goal of making a better font for low-vision developers.

Outweighed by the fact that this font offers two things that every font should:

1. Crossbars on the capital “i” 2. A zero that’s distinguishable from an O

I love it ! No extra mental process to really know if a brace is a brace of a bracket.

Fully agreed, these irritating curly braces are the reason to reject it.

I was prepared to just tolerate them, but I do find it easier to identify them at a glance, and distinguish between [ and (. Just switched my IDE to this font.

I really dislike the curly braces in this font. Fonts with this stye of curly braces are a dealbreaker for me.

Too much horizontal movement, great for python fans though.

The size of the parens/brackets/braces ruin the entire font for me.

Good thing they are many others.

I agree, curly braces that curve back are an aesthetic abomination, IMO.
