I was like you, at one point (2021 or 2022) I reckon wore socks and actual shoes maybe less than 30 days out of a year. If I go anywhere it'd be in a croc or sandals.
But then discovered the fun of electric skateboarding.
This necessitated wearing skate shoes and socks.. which I bought in bulk, no complaints there.
I suppose sock management is more tractable under purpose-specific conditions. Maybe it takes on the characteristics of gear (utility-dominant), rather than attire (aesthetics-dominant). If utilities are mismatched, well who cares?
