I visited the site to look for something to read. Started by reading a review of something I just finished. Then I looked for a jump from there to something similar. No similar book recommendations. That’s Ok.
Then, I found a list of award winning books. Some items don’t have links (presumably not reviewed). Ok. But I can’t highlight/copy any text from the list, nor can I use page reader view (although the site looks very clean and readable already) to even see the text and copy it.
I don’t mind the site not recommending, but to have a simple list of books where you can’t select the text is not a good UX on mobile.
I can understand that. The text selection was just changed due to the sheer volume of people copying whole articles and passing them off as their own. I also know you can just view the source and copy so there isn't really a foolproof way to prevent.
Maybe if I made the lists copyable and also had an icon to copy to clipboard, would that help?
Count this as a big +1 for an RSS feed, would remind me to check in more often.
Silly-small ux items that are very much nice-to-haves:
- Another +1 for allowing titles/authors to be copy-able - I often find myself hunting for the book to buy from somewhere based on the reviews or searching more from the author
- Increase the time for the book cover fade-outs, I've several times I've been interested in a cover but been too slow with the mouse/trackpad.
In general tho: the site is awesome from a clarity/readability point of view, it's ad-free and the content is excellent. You're nailing the important stuff IMO
More than welcome! I've been checking in on the site from time-to-time to get ideas for books to read for probably more than a decade now so the appreciation is all mine!
