In 1980 the Soviet Union managed to launch variants of its R-7 workhorse rocket 64 times in one calendar year. 61 of those launches were successful. [1]

For same launch vehicle type, the previous record was held by Soyuz-U, which had 47 launches (45 successful) in 1979. [2]

In 2022, with 61 flights, SpaceX Falcon 9 achieved NASA’s early 1970s projections that the Shuttle would fly every 6.4 days. The Shuttle flights-per-year record was 11 in 1985-1986.
