C++ has become a fantastically complex language. The pool of people with a "really high level of C++ skills" is narrowing because "really high level" has become more difficult to attain.
I don't understand why trading companies settled on C++, or why they need a "really high level" of proficiency with it. But it seems like a self-inflicted problem.
