I believe it was a few years ago when the design plans of the plane became available to the public. I know of 1 group who were intending to build one.

I was considering doing something similar. It'd be smaller and using ducted electric fans. Basically all top surfaces would be solar panels.

You could probably complete the build for $100,000 and there would no doubt be someone who would want to buy it for more.
