Zelensky says 'big Israel' a model for post-war Ukraine (middleeasteye.net)

Is Iron Dome around a territory as large as Ukraine even remotely feasible? Seems like that would be like many trillions of $numeraire for a landsize that large.

Maybe it becomes more realistic if you just wanna do parts of the eastern front facing the invading country's borders with Ukraine... but hey they don't pay me the big bucks for my opinions of military geostrategery

It’s not but nobody is asking for that. They want it for big cities. Mostly the big western cities that aren’t near the front but are being attacked by missiles in dumb terror strikes.

I find that also unrealistic, considering Europe is about to face a severe recession, where will they get the money from to build this unrealistic defense system?

They don't have the money themselves, considering it's a corrupted country [1], so the money is already gone considering the current events led to the migration of wealthy oligarchs

Also weaponizing an entire country and putting at risk its citizens is insane to me

The only country able to provide military assistance at this scale is the US, wich they already are, but are they willing to do it at this scale? considering Russia is willing to go at war against anyone helping them, plus they have China in their target next? [2]

I think they should focus on Peace and do everything in their power to de-escalate what's already turning into a shit show

Why would they? I can only speak to America directly as a Native citizen but I know that we would absolutely fight till we were broken as a people if we got invaded. We might not fight to the death but we’d get close. And from looking through history that seems like a fairly common human reaction.

So why do you think they would deescalate for a “peace” that benefits the people that invaded them?

I just feel like Russia is pretty irrelevant at this point.

They are war criminals and are not fulfilling their end of the bargain vis-a-vis the UN. I can't imagine they are fully comprehending the effects of their actions on their two handfuls of geopolitical relationships or their internal economic hierarchy.

Putin is literally defenestrating oligarchs and stealing assets (for what its worth, just like asset forfeiture actions in the USA).

If they use tactical nuclear weapons, that would be a sad day for the human historical record and a reflection of the deeply offensive insanity of their regime. I would expect, based on Jake Sullivan's words last week or two, that in response the US and maybe some subset of its many NATO allies will use a McSupersized dose of Freedom^TM via conventional weapons and liberate all the Russian vessels in the Black Sea from this plane of existence.

China is definitely an ongoing threat but it makes sense to approach things one at a time. I don't think we should feel any need to focus on peace.

Russia needs to be completely humiliated, economically and geopolitically.

They have shown they are not a reasonable actor on the world stage and will have to make amends for many decades to demonstrate that they are starting down a path that approaches what you'd expect in a modern day neoliberal society. Putin has to go as a pre-requisite for the above.

Furthermore, we must somehow install a sense of deep fear in Russia's population - contingent on the fact that what enabled that state to exist in its previous and currently present form, is fundamentally incompatible with the new state of the universe.

We have to show them this fact and do what we can to help them understand, in any way we can as citizens of the world that any future where Russia's relevancy returns... that it is all pre-requisite on a potential future state of existence (that is not the one that is currently in existence) where the current trajectory of their rotten husk of an administration is a distant memory.

That time is not now, and every additional terrorist action that is taken by the invading country's regime is an action that pushes that moment further into the future.

Given that you feel this way about Russia what was is your opinion on America's role in the middle east the last 30 years?

It was a shameful time in our history, especially when you consider the fact that we didn't even attack the right antagonists

>Russia needs to be completely humiliated, economically and geopolitically.

That worked pretty well after WW1 with Germany. Maybe it will work even better this time.

So are you suggesting that we skip the humiliation part this time around proceed directly to Nato troops in Moscow?
