Everything else has gotten better: the machines are almost-inconceivably faster and larger (in capacity, logical size; in physical size they are of course ever smaller!), the compilers are smarter than ever, the languages more ergonomic and safer, etc.
The only downside, the great undertow, is burgeoning complexity. A "thundering herd" attack on the human mind.
