If the Australian laws are like the US’s, where the servers are located does not matter.

So, that's the worst of both worlds, right? Servers are in the US but still have to be subject to Australian laws, and also, they are subject to the US law for being in that country.

To put it into greater (debateable?) context, Australia is part of the Five Eyes too. Food for thought I guess.
