Cursor trails were a godsend for '90s PowerBook users with passive-matrix LCDs where it was very easy to lose the cursor visually as it moved: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_matrix_addressing

My memory is that this still existed in modern macOS not too long ago, as an accessibility option.


It still exists on Windows.
