CppCon is organized by the Standard C++ Foundation (and a ton of volunteers), which is a non-profit organization. When I was involved quite a few years ago, I believe they were making a modest "profit" on the conference which I am pretty sure was all wiped out during COVID due to the hotel commitments they enter into.
