Just to be clear, this little subthread is a complaint about how Microsoft is implementing a "feature" which is harmful to users and happens to be in line with a decades-old recording industry business wish. There are no content creators in this discussion. This is predominantly because the toxic capitalism of the recording/movie industry is untethered from content creation--e.g. Disney buys the content then extracts value from consumers without consulting the creators.
